HGTV Stars Egypt Sherrod and Mike Jackson Honored By Clark University

HGTV real estate and renovation leaders Egypt Sherrod and Mike Jackson were honored at the Clark Atlanta University Homecoming game last Saturday. The couple received custom CAU jackets and champion rings from Dr. George T. French, Jr., the president of Clark Atlanta.   The recognition celebrates their ongoing support and dedication to CAU and the wider HBCU community.

Dr. French stated, “This is a phenomenal experience. As President of Clark Atlanta University, I’ve seen us grow, but I’ve not seen the developments within athletics that Egypt, Mike, and Married To Real Estate have afforded us. We began with the lounge and the barbershop and now with the president‘s box right here and I’ve not seen anything like this. We are very appreciative and this is going to promote our athletics program and encourage other donors and contributors to give even more so we give heartfelt thanks.”

As proud supporters of Clark Atlanta University, Sherrod and Jackson have been instrumental in giving back to the institution. Recently, the couple spearheaded the renovation and design of a new lounge for CAU student-athletes and built a custom barbershop on the campus. Both renovation projects were revealed on Season 3 of their hit HGTV show “Married to Real Estate.” The couple’s work on campus has significantly enhanced the student experience, providing both functional and welcoming spaces.

With Season 4 of “Married to Real Estate” currently underway, the couple plans to continue showcasing their passion for community-driven projects.

“We are beyond honored to be recognized by Clark Atlanta University, a place that means so much to us and the community,” said Sherrod. “Supporting our HBCUs is essential because they nurture the leaders of tomorrow. It’s important for us to give back and help create spaces where students can feel empowered and at home.” Speaking of HBCUs, Sherrod spoke at the graduation commencement and received an honorary doctorate of humane letters from Stillman College this year.

Jackson echoed these sentiments, adding, “This is just the beginning of our continued commitment to HBCUs. We are passionate about giving back to the community, and we believe in the power of education. It’s a privilege to be part of this journey and to support the next generation in any way we can.”

The presentation took place during the university’s Homecoming game, a significant event that brought together alumni, students, and supporters. Egypt and Mike’s contributions are a testament to their commitment to improving the lives of CAU students and uplifting the larger HBCU network.
